My name is Melodie Booton. I have been a homeschool mom for 12 years. When my first child had trouble getting past decoding three-letter words, I began to investigate dyslexia and ways we teach kids to read. At that point, I discovered Orton-Gillingham methods of reading instruction. Then life threw me a curveball. My middle son is profoundly dyslexic and didn't even know his letter sounds at 7, but OG methods weren't helping. The lengthy time for remediation and the many rules to memorize would not work for him. So I kept researching to find another way. I investigated the Science of Reading and dyslexia and common co-existing conditions like ADHD.
That's when I discovered Linguistic Phonics. Having witnessed the difference it has made in his reading ability in such a short time, I want to share that possibility with others. Since completing more training, I would love to help your child improve their skills.Â
A speech to print approach starts with what your child already knows: the sounds they use to talk.
Explicit, structured, evidence-based, multi-sensory instruction is targeted to the learner's specific needs.
Writing and spelling are integrated with reading instruction.Â
Speech to Print approaches tend to work much faster than rules-based teaching programs. Ask me about the difference!
Parent/Caregiver coaching is included with tutoring sessions so the child can continue practice at home.
Independent reading and writing are the goal.
